Dr. Wang Fulin, Registered Acupuncturist

Dr. Wang Fulin is the co-founder and dean of the Canadian Bethune Oriental Medical Center. He is a registered acupuncturist in Alberta in 1994. He has gone through the process of working alone, working in partnership, and founded the Canadian Bethune Oriental Medical Center. He graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine of Ningxia Medical College in 1982 and stayed on to teach at the school. In 1987, he received a master’s degree in public health medicine from Harbin Medical University. In 1994, he received a doctorate in epidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Calgary, Canada. After graduation, he was employed by the Ministry of Health of the Alberta Government of Canada; he was also employed as a visiting honorary professor of Ningxia Medical University.

Dr. Wang is the executive dean and dean of the Canadian Institute of Holistic Medicine and co-chairman of the 2017-2021 International Traditional Medicine Conference, director of the International Cooperation Center for Clinical Research of Traditional Chinese Medicine-Canada of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, executive president of the Canadian Acupuncture Medical Association, and director of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. He has served as the Chairman of the Alberta Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association (CAAA), Chairman and Co-Chairman of the CAAA Membership Committee, Part-time Teacher of the Acupuncture Department of MacEwan University from 1998 to 2017, Part-time Assistant Professor of the University of Calgary, Chairman of the Alberta Acupuncture Examination Committee, and Chairman of the Membership Committee of the Alberta Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association (ASA). He has published more than 30 scientific research papers, more than 40 government research reports and chapters in Chinese medicine books, such as Yin Yang and Zang Fu Syndrome Differentiation. He has won many awards, such as the Alberta Heritage Foundation Medical Research Award from 1992 to 1994, the Alberta Premier’s Award from 2000 to 2001 and 2007, the Outstanding Alumni Award of Ningxia Medical University in 2013, the 16th China Growth Pharmaceutical Enterprise Development Forum Sailing Award in 2021, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Chinese in Edmonton, Alberta in 2023.
